Tempting Tuesday

Good Morning Crafters

Did you attend the Izink demo day on Saturday?  If you missed it pop over to the Facebook page and take a look at the samples that Margaret made. I think this range is going to be very popular particularly with mixed media crafters.

It's the start of another week here at Keep on Crafting and we have some fabulous new stock to share.  Would you love to bring on the bling, and give your Christmas creations a glitter and sparkle?  Personally the thought of brushing it out of the dog for a week means the lids stay firmly on my pots of glitter so when I spotted the new non-shed glitter cardstock in the shop my eyes lit up.  Not only do you not end up with glitter everywhere but it also has a lovely soft texture.  The colours are amazing and at the current deal of £2 for 5 sheets I just had to buy all ten colours.  Keep you eyes peeled for some inspiration using some sheets.

For Hunkydory fans we have something for you too, the Special Edition for Crafting with Hunkydory which celebrates their 9th birthday is on the shelves.  It comes with 8 pretty double-sided perforated papers and a free Blooming Lovely papercraft kit worth £4.99. The magazine itself costs just £4.99
Next up is something I have been coveting every since it arrived in the shop, it's from one of my favourite companies and by one of my favourite designers.  This week my willpower gave out and I bought the new Craft Consortium Winter Woodland paper pad, stamps and acorn charms.  I will be sharing some makes with this range very soon.  I treated myself using my full loyalty card.  What loyalty card is this, you may be wondering.  Every time you spend £10 in the shop you will received a stamp on your card, when your card is full you can exchange it for £20 worth of crafting goodies. For those of you that can't make it into the shop we offer free postage when you spend over £3.

Yew & Holly

Good Morning Crafters

Today's inspirational card uses the Izink Pigment Ink (bottle) in Turquoise.

I have used Woodware Yew and Holly stamp watercoloured with Kuretake Wink of Stella pens on watercolour cardstock.  The snow splatters are added using a fan brush and the Jasmine Izink Pigment Ink (bottle) mixed with a drop of water, just flick the brush at the image to create the small splatters.

The background is made using the Izink Pigment Ink in Turquoise and the That Special Touch Pine Needles mask.  Apply the ink using some cut n dry.  I have gone around the edges using Pine Needles Distress Ink.  The topper is mounted on the background using Pinflair glue gel, and then on to black card stock.

The sentiment is also from the Yew and Holly set and embossed with clear powder.  I added lines using the Kuretake Zig 005 pen.

Don't forget the demo day this Saturday using the new Izink range.

Izink Pigment Techniques

Good Morning Crafters

Yesterday was busy but I did manage a bit of experimenting with the Izink Pigment ink bottles.  I put together this quick card using John Next Door by John Lockwood stamps and stencils.

I used 3 techniques on this card, the topper is a wash created by dripping the ink on to die cut water colour cardstock and spritzing it with water.  I dried it with a paper towel which did leave an impression behind but I quite like the texture it has added.  You could let the background dry naturally, use a heat gun or kitchen towel (just take a look at the pattern first).  I used Wow White Embossing Powder and the Summer Flowers stamp set to act as a resist techinque.  I used Iris for the wash and also dripped some Jasmine (white) on the topper.

The card blank is from my stash and I used the Jasmine Izink Pigment with a piece of cut n dry through the Quatro Stars stencil.

I have also stamped with the Izink, it's not a clean crisp print but is readable and works well with this style of topper.  I think I have come up with a way to use the ink to get a crisp print, so watch this space.

IZINK is an acrylic-based pigment ink. This blend of ink allows it to have properties of both pigment ink and paint. It is opaque and permanent and can be diluted with water or alcohol. Each bottle comes with an eye dropper. The ink is thicker than a spray but is thinner than acrylic which give it it's blending quality.

For more tips and techniques why not pop along to the demo at the shop on Saturday where Margaret Brackenbury will demoing the Izink range.

Tuesday Temptations!

Good Morning Crafters

A quick reminder to please vote for us in the International Craft Awards.  In 2015 and 2016 we were silver finalist for best independent retail shop in the South East of England.  This year we are one of five finalists competing for Gold.  Winning the award helps to advertise and improve are visibility in East Anglia.  Please click on the link to vote for us.

You may have seen in the newsletter that Crafts Consortium Winter Wonderland has just arrived in the shop.  Personally I love Winter and wildlife, and I'm a big Crafts Consortium fan so this new collection makes me one very happy crafter!  The stamps, papers and embellishments are very high quality and excellent value for money.  Use them on your cards, scrapbooks, planners, home decor and mixed media projects.

This Saturday, Margaret Brackenbury will be giving a free demonstration using products from one of our new suppliers.  French company, Aladine have a number of ink pads, pigment inks and coloured structure paste in their Izinks range.  The brand is very popular with one of our favourite crafters, John Lockwood and we have a feeling it will also be very popular with both papercrafters and mixed media crafters alike.  To pick up some tips and techniques pop along to the shop on the 7th October.

There are still two places left on the Press to Impress (another favourite with John Lockwood) workshop on the 14th October.  Quite a few of our customers now have this inexpensive tool and are seeing great results and improvements in their stamping.  I use it for all my stamped cards you see here on the blog, it's always on my craft desk.  Margaret will show you how to use it in conjunction with John's media plates to make a variety of clean and simple cards.

Another demo day we are really excited about is Stencils with Dot Clark.  Dot is a design team member for the Sweet Poppy stencils and will be demonstrating the latest stencils and new media along with more new techniques.  We would love you to stop by between 10.30 am and 3.00pm on the 18th October and show your support - make a note in your diary today!

A quick heads-up before I sign off, we have a number Sizzix dies on offer at the moment, you could save up to £25!

Pop back tomorrow for project inspiration.   Keep on Crafting.

Clean and Simple Winter Birthday

Good Morning Crafters

Following on from yesterday's CAS Autumn birthday card today I'm sharing a Winter birthday card using John Lockwood's Winter Trees stamp set.  The background is made using the circle die cut from the Autumn card, a media plate and Momento Inks in Gray Flannel, Teal Zeal and Nautical Blue.

The trees are stamped in Expresso Truffle Momento Ink, as is the sentiment which is from the Woodware The Waistcoat stamp set. I have added 3 teal gems from my stash.

Have a great weekend and Keep on Crafting.

Clean and Simple Autumnal Birthday Card

Good Morning Crafters

It's easy to get carried away with making Christmas cards at this time of year, but our family has quite a few birthdays at this time of year too so I thought I would share some inspirations for those occasions.  I'm starting with a card for an Autumn birthday.

I cut a circle in a card blank using a die.  The sentiment is from the Woodware The Waistcoat stamp set and stamped in Black Jet Archival Ink.  The leaves are from the Crafting Together mini stamps and I used Momento Inks in Morocco, Toffee Crunch and Peanut Brittle.

The best way to get the spacing for the leaves around the circle and build up the layers is to use the Press to Impress stamping board.  The ribbon is from my stash.

Donkey Decoupage

Good Morning Crafters!

After a bit of a break I'm back and I have plenty of inspiration lined up for you.  Today I'm sharing a card using decoupage from Card Creations Ltd.

I picked this cute Donkey sheet, layered it up using Pinflair glue on to a red mirri card.  The footprints were made using the Boot Prints Mini Stencil through my die cutting machine as a embossing mat rather than a stencil.  The sentiment is from the Yew & Holly stamp set and Jet Black Archival Ink and Zig Millennium 005 black pen.

Here is a close-up of those boot prints.
