Mixed Media Glass Bottle Workshop with Margaret Brackenbury

Good Morning Crafters!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.  On Saturday I attended Margaret's Mixed Media Glass Bottle class.  We started off with a clean plain glass sauce bottle.  Once we had picked the Rice Paper we wanted to use, we picked a colour of Starlight Paints that would coordinate with the paper to colour the bottle.  Margaret shared a great tip, before tearing images from the rice paper wet around the image with a damp brush this makes it easier to tear and the edges then blend in better on the surface of your item.

The images were adhered to the bottle using Starlight Decoupage Glue.  Once this was dry we rubbed over the whole bottle with Sparkle Medium in a contrasting colour.

Next we added die cut flowers, which we coloured on both sides with two colours of Starlight Paint before rolling them up in to roses.

Finally we finished the bottle off with some ribbon.

Here is a short video showing the entire bottle.

Simply Dad!

Morning Crafters!

I'm back to share another Father's Day card. This is really quick and simple to make, so perfect if you're running short on time.

This time I have used off cuts from the background made at the Crafting the Seth Apter Way workshop with Chris Stevens (Chris showed us a few of samples made with off cuts and said not to thrown anything away) and some chipboard letter painted with a mix black and yellow paints.

Supplies used;
Background off cuts made using Paperartsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic PaintsPaperartsy stamps and various stencils.
I have used chipboard letters but in the past I have bought Wooden letters from the shop.
Black Gesso

Grungy & Quirky Father's Day Card

Morning Crafters!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  I attended the demo at the shop this Saturday and was lucky enough to have a play with the new Threaders Inks and stamps from Crafter's Companion.  Here is my piece, I had no plan just tinkered with the different inks and stamps on a piece of fabric.  When I get a few minutes I will add some embroidery to the piece.

As this weekend is Father's Day I thought I would start the week with a card for dad.  I have used part of one of the backgrounds made at the Crafting the Seth Apter way workshop, you can see the canvas here.  I stamped the birds using Distress Oxide, heat set them and then coloured them with Kuretake pens.  I think the background has absorbed most of the ink, it has changed the colour slightly but still allows the background to be shown.  I die cut the letters from Kraft card and inked the edges.

Background made using Paperartsy Fresco Finish AcrylicPaints, Paperartsy Stamps and various stencils

I have also made a short video about the Distress Oxides.

Crafting the Seth Apter Way Workshop with Chris Stevens

Good Morning Crafters!

Before I launch in to today's post, I must mention there is a demo day at the shop tomorrow. Margaret Brackenbury will be demonstrating the Threaders Inks & stamps recently launched by Crafters Companion, and there will be offers on the day for the products being used, so definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Today I'm sharing the finished canvas which I started at the above workshop last weekend.

We made three backgrounds one on white cardstock (I will be using this for a card so watch this space), one on kraft card and one on canvas.  Using the Little Black Dress Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Finish Acrylic paint we painted all three black.

The colours on the kraft card were to be kept lighter as these would act as contrast on the dark pieces. The layers were built up further by add paint through stencils and on stamps.  I also used the die cut waste as stencils.  There are plenty of colours to choose from in the Paperartsy Fresco range but I used;  Mahogany, Mud, Terracotta, Buff, Carribean Sea and Midnight.

This is how my canvas looked at the end of the session.

At home I added some of the die cut pieces...

and highlighted the words using white and copper gel pens.

Seth Apter's stamps, dies and paints by Paperartsy are available from the shop.

Hope to see you at the shop this weekend but what ever you get up to Keep on Crafting!
Tracy

Starlight Paints & Bird Cages Stencil

I'm back today with a card using the Bird Cages stencil and Starlight Paints from Imagination Crafts.  Starlights are water-based and semi-translucent, the sparkle is produced by finely ground metal flakes and you get a lot of paint for your pennies!  Oh and I've become slightly addicted to them.

I used cut and dry foam to stencil on Imagination Crafts Black Satin card. I like the stippled effect on this piece from using the foam.  The Starlight Paints colours I used were; Apple Green, Pearl, Salmon, Sand and Topaz.

If you are near Bury St Edmunds today, it would be a great day to pay a visit as Dot Clark will be demonstrating the newly released Sweet Poppy Stencils, dimensions paste and super fine glitter between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

See you soon and Keep on Crafting.

Stencilling with Starlight Paints

Good Evening!

This is my first post for the Keep on Crafting blog, I was very excited to be asked to contribute to the blog and am looking forward to sharing projects, inspiration, tips and techniques using the excellent products available from the shop.

Today I'm sharing a card I made earlier in the year using the Apple Green, Pink Sorbet and Red Starlight Paints, Black Satin Card and Poppy stencil. I'm not sure if this particular stencil is still in stock but there are so many lovely designs to choose from you will be spoilt for choice!

The reason I decided to share this card today is because there is a smashing offer on the Imagination Crafts Starlight Paints until 7th June.  Spend £25 on Starlight Piants and then you can save 10% on all products on the website. The offer code will also work on the Starlights so your £25.00 will actually cost £22.50. Add these savings to free p&p and you are saving real money. Enter STAR10 at checkout. It will only work if your order contains £25 worth of Starlight Paints.

I will be back tomorrow with another inspirational project.

Until then Keep on Crafting!
